Eucalyptus Oil Anyone?

“According to Medline Plus,5 the diluted form of eucalyptus oil is taken orally for pain and inflammation of respiratory tract mucous membranes, coughs, asthma, bronchitis, sinus pain and inflammation, and respiratory infections. It is also used as an antiseptic, insect repellent, and treatment option for wounds, burns, and ulcer.

For healing mucus membranes (such as to safely and effectively treat allergies and asthma), you can apply a drop of eucalyptus oil on an organic cotton ball and sniff it several times a day. I also recommend adding a few drops to water or a nebulizer as steam therapy, or you can use a few drops in your bath water.” Mercola.com

Yet, eucalyptus oil can be used for hair! The oil activates or stimulates the scalp while creating a natural oil coating on each strand. This protects the hair from splitting and engages growth from scalp stimulation.

DIY Honey Protein Mask

Honey…it helps!

Curls and Twirls

Image

Ingredients:

2-4 tablespoons of honey

2-4 raw eggs

1-2 tablespoons of grapeseed oil

Mix ingredients together in a container. Apply onto wet, detangled hair. Cover your hair in a plastic shower cap and let it sit for about half an hour. Do not apply heat (it will cook the egg). Rinse with cold water.

  • If your hair needs more moisture and less protein, skip the egg or only apply the egg yolk.

  • Grapeseed oil is great for hair mask because it mixes well with other ingredients. Good alternative oils for this recipe are: Olive Oil and Coconut Oil

“My Hair is not Growing”
Fact Check: Unless you have a medical condition  your hair IS growing! It may be breaking at the same pace, or even faster than it grows.

Damage is a barrier that will prevent you from seeing hair growth. Your hair is actually growing all the time, but with damage in the way, your hair is breaking off at the same rate it is growing, which is why there will appear to be no growth  or progress.

How to fight it?
Fact Check:   Once the bonds of the hair is broken or split they cannot be repaired  Many products claiming to fix split ends, can provide temporary relief from frizz and flyaways  but cannot undo any damage. At the most these product strengthen hair, & smooth the cuticles, to prevent further damage. Split ends should always be trimmed.

Need a New Touch on Hair? Try This!

Heated virgin oil, egg, and water as a deep conditioner works miracles on dry hair.  This particular mix should be applied very thick onto the hair and placed under a cap. Most people are very skeptical about the smell of egg so applying a hint of mint oil or fragrant oil (oil based only-no chemical oils) places an soft aroma or scent onto the hair. This conditioner is great for twists and loose curls and can be done once a week for optimum results leaving a light feel for this cooler Fall season!

Vinegar Wash, Egg Conditioner, Oil Set

Natural remedies for natural, shiny hair are right in your daily grasp! A treatment of water and vinegar leaves the hair shiny and lustrous while cleaning the scalp which is the core of strong and healthy hair. A cleaner rinse provides a scalp breathability creating stronger, longer locks of hair.

Egg Conditioning entails a high protein conditioning which is the substance of hair. Hair is a dead item once it leaves the follicle, therefore the goal is to maintain the rich conditioned state as it exits that follicle. To do so, a deep egg conditioner thoroughly rinsed with a mild to moderate conditioner such as Pantene products, Garnier Fructis, Dove products, Organix, Andalou Naturals, Cara B Naturally, Palmers, or Nubian Heritage are essential to remove the build up.

A leave in oil such as shea butter cream/oil, coconut oil (beautiful smell), and jojoba or Moroccan oil creates a shine while holding moisture. These oil types are maintained with a silk scarf or cap at bedtime. Be mindful, too much oil can clog pores and slow down hair growth, therefore the oil is to be used at the core of the root (not scalp) and massaged into the hair.
